The End of the A&M Kelci Era

Kelci Miller

It's said that teaching is the noblest profession and we are therefore thrilled that CSL's Kelci Miller has chosen this path. Kelci started on July 23 and, after two weeks of professional development and training, Monday will be her first day in the classroom.

Kelci will be teaching biology and physics to the 9th and 11th grade scholars at Austin Achieve Public Schools. Their innovative program has the mission to prepare the youth of East Austin to attend and excel at the nation's top colleges and universities. Gabby will hopefully also appreciate that at Austin Achieve, every day is bring-your-dog-to-work day!

Kelci brings with her an incredible breadth of experiences from her undergraduate Environmental Studies ('15) major and her master's degree in Geography, which will be conferred next Friday. She went from participating in high-impact learning experiences on the Texas Gulf Coast and studying abroad in Belize as an undergraduate student, to teaching high-impact experiences in the Costa Rican cloud forest and the Peruvian Andes as a graduate student. For her graduate research, Kelci participated in multiple month-long research cruises to the Northwest Hawaiian Islands, analyzing water column chemistry and diving to the bottom of the ocean in deep diving submersibles to survey deep-sea corals on seamounts. Her impressive skillset and passion are sure to inspire the next generation of scientists, and we hope to welcome many of them to our programs at Texas A&M in few years.

After six years with us at Texas A&M it is bittersweet to see Kelci start her professional career, but we couldn't be prouder and wish her all the best!
